Allison Schieler’s career began as a concert dancer. She is classically trained, with degrees from LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts at Lincoln Center and New York University/Tisch School of the Arts, where she studied ballet; pointe; the Horton, Graham, and Cunningham techniques; tap; and jazz. She has had the honor of training with and performing works by Joshua Bergasse, David Dorfman Dance, Battleworks, Kate Weare, Séan Curran, and Keigwin + Company, among others.
Allison had always supplemented this extensive dance education, and her natural flexibility, with training in contortion, hand balancing, and tumbling. Post graduation, she decided to more steadily pursue acrobatics, training at places such as Aerial Arts NYC, Body and Pole, and The Muse. Allison currently performs her hand-balancing & contortion acts around the U.S. with various entertainment companies; she also performs with MachineHistrionica Dance and Delineation Dance Company. She offers contortion and handstand classes at Body and Pole and Aerial Arts NYC, and freelances as a professional dancer, choreographer, and acrobat.
